About Lyndsay Maas
Lyndsay Maas is a driven professional with a long career in finance and business administration. She is a graduate of Antioch University and California State University Channel Islands, where she has completed her Master’s of Business administration. Early in her career, Lyndsay worked in the private finance sector, building her skills and managing large corporate accounts. She has proven experience in managing teams, optimizing processes, and building fruitful client relationships.
After a time, however, Lyndsay Maas had the opportunity to pivot her career into the public sector, working for Santa Barbara City College. She spent three years as the Controller, then moved into a new role as the Vice President of Business Services. Her private sector skills proved invaluable as she was able to bring new ideas and perspectives into the college to help optimize processes.
Throughout her roles, Lyndsay Maas has become adept at handling large budgets and accounts. At Santa Barbara City College, she was the top managerial accountant over the college’s general budget of $105 million. She managed several small teams underneath her while ensuring annual audits went smoothly and frequently met with other college officials to distribute funds strategically and develop budgets. The skills built in this role prepared her well for her time as Vice President of Business Services. There, her managerial skills were tested as she navigated personnel changes while keeping several crucial departments running. In the process, she was able to simplify the existing teams and make significant cost savings by utilizing existing employees more efficiently. Lyndsay oversaw several major events and projects, including the construction of a new classroom building, planning for a new Physical Education Building, and managing the annual 4th of July celebration.
Currently in her career, Lyndsay Maas the is Assistant Finance Director with the City of Santa Barbara. In her role, Lyndsay is responsible for Treasury, investments, revenues, utility billing, cash receipts, and accounts receivable. As Assistant Finance Director, her responsibilities have a keen focus on municipalities and government accounting.
Outside of her successful professional career, Lyndsay Maas is an active woman with many interests. She’s a single mom who loves learning new things and diving into new DIY projects around her home, and she’s passionate about preserving the environment. Nature is one of her favorite things, and her ideal way to enjoy it is on the water. She owns a boat and loves driving her family out to lakes to do wakeboarding, waterskiing, and more. Additionally, she always makes time for exercise in her busy schedule. Whether going trail running at a nearby park or finding a quick pilates video online, she makes an effort to build her strength and endurance whenever possible.
